Without a doubt, Jennifer can confidently say her purpose in life is to help and serve others. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from DePaul University and taught elementary school for several years. In addition to being an educator, she loves helping children and families continue to grow, so she worked in her church volunteering in a children’s ministry for over ten years. Mrs. Merritt also served in various leadership roles within the churches for over twenty years. She has worked as a case manager in child welfare, working with parents and children to facilitate important changes needed for healthy parent-child relationships and family living situations.
Mrs. Merritt recently received her Master of Social Work degree from Indiana University Northwest and she is looking forward to expanding her work with families. She believes that having this chance to serve children and families working with ‘My Family’s Village’ is a great opportunity to provide parents and children with support and education by connecting them with needed resources to better their lives. The result will be a positive pathway for parents to build and foster a successful future for their children.
Her and her husband currently reside in Northwest Indiana and have three daughters. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, volunteering at a local nursing home, and relaxing at the beach.
